Where I'm From #clmaker

CLBooc: What is it?

Our students are involved in a connected learning blogging project called CLbooc in which we create projects and share on our blogs.  We're just getting the blogs set up, but our first project is to introduce ourselves with an I am From poem.

You can read about our  CLBOOC Project and find our process directions here.

Where am I from?

Revised for CLBOOC Project; Three Verses

I Am From
Sheri Edwards

I am from

hot, windy prairies
slapping mosquitoes
and skipping in the shade of
city trees
barefooted and free,
driving to refresh
to fish and to swim
in the cool wet shore
in the swirling power
of the Big Muddy

I am from
bitter winters that
stole your breath
pushing your way
in the icy wind
dreaming
of those barefoot days

I am from
the wonders of story
read and written,
inspiring
teens and preteens
to pen the power of their
stories and song
in a buzzing classroom
beside the multi-flowered meadow
in the shadow
of
Moses
Mountain

Welcome Back!

Welcome back!

This will be another great PAX year -- our students are PAX Leaders!  The above t-shirt design represents our PAX leader goals: Health, Happiness, Peace, and Productivity.  It was designed by Shihiya Rainy Dawn Vargas-Thomas, and we thank her for her artistry, perceptions, and PAX leadership. We send her the best thoughts for exciting and learning years at Lake Roosevelt High School; we know she will continue her PAX leadership there as an excellent representative of her family, Nespelem School, and Nespelem community.
